Downside risk limited at 6-8%, potential upside is substantial.
SPAC bubble is re-inflating, reminiscent of the roaring boom of 2020–2021. I’ve never been a fan of SPACs or the speculative trading circus around them. Picking winners largely seems like a fool’s game. The space is filled with credible sponsors, and even the best of them have mixed track records of finding good deals. Even if you’re just aiming to catch deal-announcement spikes, it’s still very much a casino floor.
However, there is a particular niche in the SPAC market that I can’t help but see as highly compelling and asymmetric. These vehicles are rare (only five of them out there) and are extremely well positioned to find the right target for a business combination and potentially trigger a speculative rush in the stock. That’s the trade. No boring value stuff.
Downside here is limited to low-to-mid single digits, while potential upside could be a multibagger.
